Should Kids have Cell Phones?
In this blog, "kids" are children below the age of 13. I have been using a cellphone since I was 12. However, this was a necessity. Since Covid had struck, everything had been shifted online, including school. The main work of our school was being done on WhatsApp, which only works on phones. I couldn't keep borrowing my mom's phone while she was working, so I was given a phone. Phones can have very harmful effects on kids. I have seen 13-year-olds spend several hours on the phone. The primary time consumer was, of course, the one, the only (drumroll please) Instagram. Now, I'm not going to talk about social media here. However, social media is a big part of a smartphone. Although, if a kid is in some emergency, they should have a way of contacting emergency services or their parents/guardians. To solve this dilemma, kids should be given a non-smartphone. This will definitely lower their time on a phone and be available to use during urgent situations.
