What Beast Games Means for The Future of YouTube

Image
The game show made by MrBeast in collaboration with Prime Video is breaking records left and right, becoming the most-viewed show on the platform in over 82 countries. Insane numbers, especially for a YouTuber. I mean, it wasn’t even considered a “job” until 7 or 8 years ago. It’s a great achievement for MrBeast and other YouTubers as well; they are taken a lot more seri ously by the whole world now, and a large portion of that credit does go to MrBeast. Jimmy Donaldson has also pioneered what we call “production-heavy videos” in the modern era of YouTube. His budgets have exceeded a million dollars per video several times now, which is great, but it does take away from what YouTube was made for in the first place: bridging the gap between audiences and creators, one that is a chasm in Hollywood. Let’s rewind a bit. MrBeast built this empire on YouTube with ideas like spending 24 hours on top of a mountain or buried alive. It was content that felt fresh (ironically), personal, an...

There is More to Monsters in Fiction than it Seems

Those hairy beasts we see so often in movies are definitely an obstacle to overcome for the hero, whether it be to save a princess from a turtle with spikes or get a shiny gem being guarded by a 3 headed dog. The turtle had his flaws accentuated so that kids could un...

From your neighbor to your long lost relative who only calls to ask your grades, everyone knows just about everything these days. Oh you got a fracture? Put lotion and some leaves on it and it will be healed… right? Instagram reels has everyone educated to the point where a phd is basically useless. However, I don’t think people understand just how dangerous it could become in the long run. More and more people are genuinely starting to believe this stuff. Why go to a doctor when a 22-year-old influencer with no medical degree has a 22 second clip promising to fix your arthritis with flowers torn from the neighbor’s dog-poop-infested garden? Suddenly, science-backed medicine looks like the bad guy for not treating you fast enough. And let’s talk about the irony—everyone is ready put their lives on the line for this faster than life remedy. You slap some mystery herbs on your skin to cure a rash and end up in the ER because it turns out you’re allergic to nature itself . The line betwee...
