Vegetarianism
Vegetarianism is a big part of my life. My whole family is vegetarian, and I myself do not eat “non-veg” food. But I have never understood why. Why do some people prefer not to eat animals? The reason I get the most is that animals move. We can see animals hurt when they die. That is why we do not eat animals. But don’t plants also feel pain?
Scientists have concluded that plants do indeed have a nervous system. They can also feel pain but in a way animals can’t comprehend. So what is the difference between eating a plant and an animal? I think that people (including me) often do not eat animals because they find it repulsive. Gruesome. Disgusting.
That’s not to say that being a non-vegetarian is good. A major contribution to the global warming issue is that cows in a factory that makes beef produce a lot of methane (farts). If everyone in the whole world went vegetarian right now, food related emissions would drop by 60%. SIXTY PERCENT! This is one of the reasons why I have decided to stay vegetarian.
