Does God Exist?

First of all, I personally don’t believe in God. Either capital G god or small g gods (like Ram, Zeus, Jesus, etc). I am an atheist. However, that doesn’t mean I resent people who do believe in god, or think ‘that guy’s a moron.’ No. You want to believe in god, go ahead. You want to enforce your ideas upon those who don’t want to believe? Sorry, that’s where I draw my line.

This argument is a multifaceted debate, being iterated over countless times in sundry texts throughout the years. The interpretation of “God” has varied across the time periods, notable ones being the Roman Gods, the Greek Gods, Jesus, the Hindu Gods, Egyptian Gods, and numerous more.

One side of this debate catechises whether this is merely a misrepresentation of gods, and that these all are one and the same. That there is One Supreme Being, and humans, who subconsciously tend to put divides between themselves, ‘see’ different gods.

Another side of this diversified coin indicates that all gods different, and occupy the same, “divine power”, all of them balancing the cosmic see-saw. This rationale contrasts with the idea of a monarch and their followers. The more apostles you have, the more powerful you are.

Some disciples argue that humans, the animals, and the Earth have been hand crafted to perfection. They seem to have specific designs to meet their needs, and nature seems to be too random for this prodigious design, that is humans. There has to be a higher being that has made everything, from bacteria to elephants to everything in between.

And then there is my point of view. My belief. There probably are higher life forms. Life forms that far exceed the technological and mental capabilities of humans. But they did not create us. Nothing in nature is random. Everything can be predicted. Even something that seems random, like a coin toss, can be predicted if you pay close attention to the force applied, the force the wind puts on the coin, the amount of turns it takes, everything. So is it really that unbelievable that nature came together perfectly to make us? There might be a few trillion failed attempts at making a possible Earth. Ours is the one in which all the variables fit. In which all the debris collected in the perfect amount. In which fatal asteroids were conveniently diverted from the Earth thanks to Jupiter.

However, a lot of people believe in god. A lot of people turn to god in times of hardship, when they have no one else to turn to. Even if god is make believe, what’s so bad about it? A little faith never harmed anyone.
