The Importance of Memes

While scrolling through your internet feed in front of your friends, you suddenly start laughing. The first thing your friends will say is: “Show me the meme.”. Memes have become an elemental part of our daily digital interactions. Not even digital, actually. People have started quoting memes in real life. “I swear on skibidi” or “Bruh”. They are not just random pictures with funny captions but a hilarious yet relatable form of communication that reflects our society's collective cognizance. Memes put, not just funny cats, but also heavily nuanced, global problems into a white text box and an image of Dwayne Johnson raising an eyebrow. Memes are the modern equivalent of the ancient hieroglyphs, but way funnier. These digital artifacts allow us to spread a message by breaking traditional ideas. They are concise, relatable, and often hilarious. Yet, beneath the humor lies a powerful tool for social commentary. Think about the last time a meme made you laugh. Was it just the joke, or ...

InfoBeans Foundation Celebration

Image
The InfoBeans Foundation and I recently celebrated the achievement of 40 students being accepted into a single company. The celebration was a testament to the success of the Information Technology Excellence Program (ITEP), which aims to provide underprivileged students intensive software training and skill development. This climacteric reflects the foundation's dedication to improving digital literacy and creating employable professionals, allowing these students to lift their families up. Our event included a laughter-filled cake-cutting ceremony, congratulating those who were accepted and energizing those who weren't. The InfoBeans Foundation continues to make a significant impact, ensuring that education and skill development reach those most in need.

Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam

Image
Participating in the tree plantation drive in Indore was a truly remarkable and eye opening experience. It showed how a single city can unite to achieve a tremendously gigantic goal. On July 14, 2024, I joined over 30,000 fellow citizens in an ambitious undertaking: to set a new Guinness World Record by planting over 1.1 million saplings in just one day. The event was held at the BSF Academy's Revati Range, where we planted a variety of trees, including Banyan, Neem, Peepal, Guava, and Amla. This initiative was part of the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was a day filled with extreme heat, yet everyone was inspired to keep working and achieve the goal. We were filled with a sense of unity and purpose, knowing our efforts would contribute significantly to combating climate change and enhancing our environment.

The Perlin Voyage

Image
This is The Perlin Voyage. It is a 2D Platformer game that utilizes 1-dimensional Perlin Noise to generate an infinite and randomly seeded terrain. In it, you can eliminate enemies by dashing or just increase your score by traveling as far as you can, while navigating either an unforgiving terrain or the easiest hill you've ever crossed. It all depends on your luck. Enjoy this demo! Download link on Github: Github You can download it as a zip file and just run game.py, which should work perfectly.

Urbanization: Not as Bad as it Looks, Like NYC

Image
A city that never sleeps, where the lights of Times Square illuminate the path to countless possibilities. This is New York City, the pinnacle of urbanization, and it’s not just a place; it’s an experience. Urbanization often gets a bad rep, but when you explore the essence of cities like New York City, the benefits become clear and pretty fun to imagine. Opportunities. NYC is a beacon for those seeking to turn dreams into reality. It’s a dynamic environment where every street corner is as unpredictable as the next. You might find a falafel stand, or a Dior store. The city's population, which consists of people from several different backgrounds, brings about a tornado of cultures, ideas, and skills, inspiring innovation and economic prosperity. This diversity is the core of urban areas, making them unique. Furthermore, urbanization enhances infrastructure and amenities. NYC's extensive public transportation network is one of the most comprehensive and convenient ones, offeri...

The Unbalanced Sock Conundrum

Feeling lost in a sea of unmatched socks? You're not alone! A recent study (conducted by yours truly, at 3 am with a flashlight) reveals a staggering 87% of teenagers experience this existential sock crisis. Scientists (aka my neighbor who folds laundry) are baffled. Are these lonely socks whispers from a parallel dimension? Do they yearn for freedom, or perhaps a tiny sock revolution? The world may never know. So next time you face this socky conundrum, just remember: you're not crazy, you're a participant in the great sock mystery. Stay strong, friends.

Cancel Cancel Culture

A place where a single mistake can lead to the destruction of both your professional and social standing. It seems bad, right? Well, This is what cancel culture is. Platforms like Twitter and Instagram have become stadiums where any controversial opinion you come up with can lead to utter and complete annihilation. While intended to promote accountability, cancel culture often leaves no room for context, growth, or redemption. It is shockingly similar to a lifelong exile from medieval times.   This might sound like an efficient way to ensure people are held responsible for their actions, and sometimes it really does work. However,   it lacks nuance. When someone is "canceled," more often than not, they are condemned, banished from life as we know it. It may result in them losing their job, friends, and opportunities over a single incident, tweet, or just liking the wrong post.   Think about the content you share, the tweets you like, the comments you leave. They al...

We Need to be Bored

Image
When was the last time you sat down, and did nothing ? Absolutely nothing. Can’t remember? Yeah, me neither. You may be wondering, who ever needs to be bored? But sit down and think about it, for a second. Isaac Newton. He conceived the idea of gravity while sitting under a tree. J.K. Rowling. She created the concept of a book set in a magic school while waiting for her train. History is filled with examples of boredom leading to great decisions. When you do nothing, and distractions aren’t keeping your mind occupied, the brain starts to wander. It is able to go to places where it never could before, because it was always caught up in one thing or the other. Isaac Newton didn’t have a burst of dopamine just sitting in his pocket. That’s why he was able to make one of the most groundbreaking discoveries in the history of science. Walk back into the time-stream, to when you had a brilliant idea or a sudden solution to a problem. More often than not, these moments came when you were...

A Noise Platformer

Image
Developing an infinite platformer game has been a hugely rewarding journey. It all began with a simple idea: creating an endless world. Inspired by games like Terraria and Minecraft, my goal was to craft a dynamic environment that combined these games' best features while borrowing elements from classics like Mario. The primary focus was on generating endless terrain using one-dimensional Perlin noise. This algorithm was crucial for creating varied, navigable landscapes, making each playthrough unique. Fine-tuning the noise parameters was challenging, as I aimed to balance flat and hilly terrains to ensure playability and visual appeal. The terrain was divided into chunks, with new chunks generated as the player moved forward, ensuring a seamless infinite world. A significant milestone was integrating infinite enemy generation. I slaved for hours trying to make this happen consistently, and after at least 5 hours, a brainwave struck the shores of my prefrontal cortex. The enemies...
