The Problem with The Internet

Image
In the digital era, the world online is now becoming what seems to   be a culture of animosity—where everyone is a glass half empty kinda person. Relentless hate has been known to often drown out people trying to voice their appreciation and meaningful debates. The shift has manifested on a wide range of platforms, from social networks to forums, impacting public figures as well as everyday individuals. There used to be a time when society eagerly celebrated its icons, drawing inspiration from their accomplishments. A world where ESPN analysts are passionate about the sport and not the controversy that drives engagement. Today, however, the story has shifted toward fault-finding rather than praise. Take NBA legend, LeBron James, whose extraordinary skills and contributions to basketball are frequently met with unwarranted hostility online. Everywhere you see he is being put down, whether through his age, his stats, or even his own son. Veteran coach Doc Rivers has noted, "Back in ...

The AI and Corporate Dilemma

Mega corporations and companies are not your friends. They are not there to help you through tough times. They are emotionless, logical machinations designed for one thing: making money. Securing the bag. Hearing the Ka-Ching.  Whether it's selling pizzas, computers, or automated cars, the goal is always to maximize profit, minimize cost, and hope that the consumer becomes the product.  This is the reality of the world we live in, and AI is just the latest cog in the relentless race for efficiency. And it should be no different. Darwin said it the best. People who adapt, survive, those who don’t… get laid off. We all wish we lived in a world like “Three Idiots”. If you’re not at the front of the pack, you’ll be left behind sooner or later.” So, when companies lay off 9-5 workers in favor of those who can work 24/7 without a break, is it cruel? Yes, definitely. Is it unfortunate? Su...

Crack

Basketball is a fun game, right? To watch and to play. However, injuries are a buzzkill. They allowed the Indiana Pacers to reach the Conference Finals, and they also stopped my momentum dead in its tracks, right before the most important exam I could take in my school years. Countless past papers could not have prepared me for what lay ahead: the scribe situation. I could not write my own paper. Confidence rushed my brain still, thinking, “I could just tell him what to write and he’ll write it. This is better that writing on my own!”   I have never been more wrong in my life. Dictating your thoughts for someone else to write them down, especially in a math paper, felt like playing a video game but with a 2 second lag. Imagine your player is getting shot at and he moves a year after he is shot. This is what that felt like. The second shot to the chest was the sudden plunge my typing speed took. I have poured several hundred hours into it, but after the fracture, it dropped f...
